DEFINITION :

 An ulcer is a break in the continuity of covering epithelium ,either skin or mucous membrane due to molecular/cell death.

PARTS OF ULCER:

  1. MARGIN 
  2. EDGE
  3. FLOOR
  4. BASE

DIFFERENT EDGES:

  1. SLOPING EDGE- Red and seen in healing ulcer
  2. PUNCHED OUT EDGE- Seen in Syphilitic ,trophic ulcer
  3. UNDERMINED EDGE- Tuberculosis
  4. RAISED AND BEADED EDGE- Rodent ulcer
  5. EVERTED- Carcinomatous ulcer
  6. BEADED
